I have a Rockerhopper 29er 2013 MTB, plan on doing some stuff on the road and NCN etc and considering a slicker tyre for these rides. Any suggestions on what to go for?

I have a pair of Conti SportContacts on my spare set of wheels for longer tarmac rides on my stumpjumper (but they are 26") and they've lasted me well, been a good grippy tyre, low rolling resistance with no puncture problems over the last 5 years. I do not know if they do them in 29's. They seem very similar to Schwalbe city slickers which is another popular slick for mtg. I have the 1.6 wide ones.

  • Hi I have the same bike and ride 70% road 30 off road. I decided on a spare set of wheels and put some shwable big apple apart From the colour you will or will not like. So far they have been smooth comfortable ride with reasonable grip when taken on light trail use IE canal paths. I thought a good price and the reflective strip around the wheel is a bonus for when riding in poor or dark light :D
