I've just got into cycling and thought I'd post a couple of photos of my new road bike.

Planet X may have been selling the SL Pro Carbon for a good while now, but it's my first ever road bike and almost certainly more than a match for my ability! Plus, I've not seen any photos of one with the 'Fineline' colour scheme on here before.

Previoulsy, I've only ridden my mates Specialized Allez Elite (2010) and had a quick spin on his Rose carbon bike, so don't have a lot to compare it to. However, I took it for a 50 mile first ride at the weekend and found it to be responsive and smooth. My mate had a spin on it and he seemed quite impressed, particularly considering it cost £1200 (although he did comment that it was almost too smooth).

I'm also really pleased with the chainset and cassette combo - seems a good compromise between a full compact and a standard double.

For a first bike and for the money, I think it's spot on.

    That's lovely.

I really like mine but am often envious of the lovely De Rosa's and Colnagos on here, however as soon as I ride the PX I get a big smile on my face (and I'm also not too worried about scratching a work of art!)

Enjoy - I'm sure you will.

Thanks for the positive comments - I certainly think Planet X have done a good job with this matt/satin black carbon 'Fineline' scheme.

The seat does appear high, but I do have longer legs than torso and I think the seat height is exaggerated by the sloping top tube.

I took up the offer of a cheaper retul bike fit when I collected the bike and the final seat position felt much better (as well as moving the position into the 'optimum' range) than the lower default build position.

I actually don't feel like I'm low down when I'm riding - maybe it's because the reach isn't too stretched out or maybe it's because of the compact frame geometry, I'm not sure. It's comfortable for me, so I guess that's all that matters.
