I've searched for the above with little success.

I'm contemplating doing a ground up build based around a full sus frame and plan to run an 8-speed square taper BB and chainset with 9 speed chain, shifters, mechs. This will work won't it? I'm sure the answer is a resounding yes but can I find it anywhere.....

Thanks. Corners

a BB does not care how many gears you have.

a 8spd crankset is fine with 9spd stuff.

Thanks for confirming. The ordering of my wording wasn't accurate; apologies! A square taper BB, with an 8 speed chainset and 9 speed chain, cassette, shifters and mechs......
