My friend has made a cycling video using his gopro, just some cool clips of our ride - and now the tricky part of putting some music on it... Anyone have any good (sensible) suggestions?

What type of music are you interested putting on? I ask because I love dubstep, which most people hate.0

What kind of tone do you want the video to have? What kind of clips are they?0 -
Entirely depends upon what mood you want to convey, e.g. is it a gentle, sun soaked ride through rolling hills, or a dark, hellish, hilly suffer-fest!
You should always have some music in mind before editing your footage. You can then edit in time with beats and cuts in the track. This always works much better than simply layering music on at the end.
FWIW, I've used 'Some Velvet Morning' by Primal Scream, 'Cubicle' by Rinocerose and 'Getway' by The Music on a couple of my vids:

I always think you can't go far wrong with reworking it in sepia tint, speeding it up and adding a Maple Leaf Rag soundtrack.- - - - - - - - - -

On that basis, had I had access to footage of my slower than intended (just had no go at all) post-work ride this evening, the perfect accompaniment would have been Spanish Flea by Herb Alpert, or possibly the stuff they played at Brezhnev's funeral.
Edited to add...
Having found some footage of said chap's funeral, it appears they wheeled out a few bits of rousing marshal music instead. Not appropriate, although having the rather dour sounding Russian commentator intoning a few solemn words to the effect of "sadly, he's on the small ring again" wouldn't go amiss.Mangeur0 -

To be fair, it's already a video with a cycling theme!0
