Stuck rear disc brake- not used MTB over winter!

Got my Giant Anthem xw 2012 out to check over ready for the trails tomoz and it seems the rear disc brake is locked! The brake lever is stiff and I can't pull it back much. The disc pads are tight against the rotor- still moves but very tight and rubbing 
Bike was bought beginning of last year which had a service after 6 weeks, all working lovely- it's been out action since last sept and been stored away til now.
The brakes are avid elixir.
Please help as to wot the problem is and how a dumb blonde like me can fix it

Remove the wheel and then try and prise the pads apart with a screwdriver or tyre lever.0
