Too Good to Be True!!!

My work involves investigating fraud...and I have a saying pretty much along the lines of the thread title!!
If a deal looks too good to be true....leave well alone..because it is probably just that!! Either a total scam or selling off sub standard out of date stuff...and guess what???!!!

I fell for my it myself!!!! LBS had some tubes at £1 a shot..so good old me buys 5...and to be fair the puncture fairy doesnt know me very well, so I have them in my bag, hoping not to use them....well today..I had the misfortune of x2 punctures in less than a mile and guess what failed!!!! The £1 tubes thats what..now I know exactly why they were just a quid...on pumping up I heard a bang and removed tyre to see a hole all way across the tube....I smiled and fitted the 2nd one...250yds later..bang...thats gone too!!!
So out with the glue etc to repair the first tube..wasted about 20mins...but at least it happened in a very picturesque part ogf my ride, and sat in the sun I didn't rush to be fair..but it goes to show..I should have followed my own advice...On another connected note........can anyone reccommend good tubes...the sort that are maybe a bit thicker than the ultra sensitive condoms disguised as tubes that I got for a pound!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

These are very good. And if you buy ten they're £2.50 each http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-Continen ... 057wt_1255

<...>on pumping up I heard a bang and removed tyre to see a hole all way across the tube<...>

to go "bang" the tube has to be outside the tyre, it's likely that the tube was nipped between the rim and tyre bead, done it myself, the thinner the tube, the easier it is to do

then as you inflate it, the tube eventually has enough pressure to force out between rim and tyre... bang

Not true. I have had an inner tube explode on the inside of a tyre, it was very scary. Luckily I was going uphill at the time and not descending.

Tyre ripped and I lost 2 inner tubes today just 10km out. That after crashing on friday, bending my brake lever and cracking my helmet

There is no better way to realise how stupid you look in lycra when by catching yourself in the reflection of the bus window surrounded by old biddies and their shopping carts

No one looks good in lycra bud - you can look less stupid, but never good! ;)

(when you re a good amount overweight and over beered, and in your least flattering jersey it's especially bad - never felt quite so much shame)

Please tell me its not a Lampre jersey, why is it overweight guys love wearing the bright pink Lampre jersey? You would think they would try to wear something that didnt gain so much attention.
