Morning
Me and another member of the BR community will be (attempting) cycling to Boxhill, do a few laps and then return. We will try and start out early so hopefuklly get there whilst its not too busy. Never cycled there from London so does anyone have any hints on a route? (I am also googling as we speak).
Also if anyone else is interested in joining or if any other members will be there tomorrow would be nice to join up and if you could help pull me up all the inclines over 2% (us Londerners eh)?
PM me if you are interested...

Thanks, that looks doable.

I'm in Horsham West Sussex so next time you're coming down to Boxhill I may try and head up to Boxhill to meet you guys. Just getting into Roading but I'm pretty fit and love grinding out the hills so I may be able to keep up, for a few miles at least.....0
-
I have done the same route as Englander as I'm in SW London too. Personally I prefer to just get the train there now and save the miles for Dorking. The A24 isn't much fun to ride along in my opinion.0

If you want, we can meet up at Richmond Gate, Richmond park, kind of 8 ish, better earlier than later and I'll take you there via a decent route, Effingham/Ranmore Common/Dorking... 50 miles in total 1 lap only
Let me know here or via a PMleft the forum March 20230 -
Head into Surrey through Walton and Weybridge then hit newlands and leit hill before box hill then head back over ranmoor common .
Ill be about the hills tomorrow on my 2009 tarmac comp with red/black tape, and a guy on a giantInsert witty signature here0 -
Take the langster
Maybe see you out there but expect it'll be heaving! May dust off the fixed. Via effingham is a good loop, as suggested by Paulo. Will post up a run later.0 -

Agreed, it's just the most direct route for me. I'm very interested in Ugo's route via Effingham, I wouldn't mind seeing a map of that one. I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and go down to Box Hill tomorrow, I ride solo but wave if you see a guy on a silver Allez in a grey Nalini jersey + DHB bib shorts!Specialized Allez 2010

A 307 until Cobham, left, then right in front of Waitrose down to Effingham, from there up to Ranmore (either the steep route or the gentle slope), then left all the way down to Dorking and up Box Hill.. easy...left the forum March 20230 -

Maybe, depends if there are any training pace rides with the club tomorrow or whether I find myself in the pub later!0 -
I really need to make it down to Box Hill at some point, it is just so far away from Cambridge. One day! The loop looks amazing.0

I would be all over if it funds allowed at the moment, trying to start a new company which is swallowing every penny!0 -
watch for minor roadworks at effingham, we had to use a different route to get to whitedown and coldharbour ( the hill that comprises Ranmore descent).... then on to box this morning. you sshould be ok, but may have to get of your bike and walk a bit if you are going up the hill (effingham that is).0

It will have to be the steep way up to Ranmore then... :-)left the forum March 20230 -

Beech Avenue from Effing ham has/had a road closure the other day, but you can walk around the section.
If you see a lime green and black GT series 4, with a rider wearing baggies and mtb shoes, that will be me lol. I'll probably be around there at some point tomorrow, unless I get the urge to go kayaking again.2010 GT Series 4 ultegra wheels & brakes

Well I had a great blast! Did two laps, on the second I sort of joined in with a group of fast cyclists going down Lodgebottom Road/Headley Lane which was amazing fun. There was a guy with some seriously fancy wheels which hummed as he went along!
Got 2 sub-7 Box Hill's, including a PB of 6:44, so I'm pretty pleased with that. I was doing sprint finishes, which suggests I could have upped the pace during earlier sections of the climb.Specialized Allez 2010

Well that was a great day out on the bike. Managed 87 miles and big thanks to Paolo for taking us out to Boxhill and then leaving me for dead on the hill! Sorry for being late!
Lots of work to do on my climbing but good start. Didn't manage to see anyone else but I was too busy trying to keep my lungs inside me so apologies for not noticing!
