My apologies if this has already been covered in the where to watch etc. somewhere.

So I've just subscribed to Eurosport Player only to find that the android app for it will not work. I'm running android 4.0.4 in the UK, standard non rooted as it came from Orange on my Galaxy s2, and I'm not allowed to download it as it's "not available in my country".

Here is a link to it on google play store with hundreds of reviews saying it won't work and eurosport are unwilling to reply to emails! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eurosport.player&hl=en

Does anyone have it working on android?

When I got my Samsung Galaxy S3 last summer I got a free month of Eurosport player. For the month I had it there were no problems at all and it ran extremely well.

I just did a search myself and it doesn't appear in Google Play for me. If I check the Amazon app store (separately installed app) it is on there, so you could possibly get it that way. I've just downloaded it without any problems and ran it (I don't have a subscription, so it just brought me to the point of logging in).

Yep, I'm having the same problem, I installed the app a while ago on 2 different android devices and it has never worked. The extra streams sometimes work for a bit but eventually crash with a server communication error!! It does work on my PC but I needed it to work on android so I can view on my TV!
Their app has terrible ratings which is maybe why it has been removed from the app store. You can still download it via a Google search
Has anyone had any response from Eurosport about this?

You can get it and it does work some of time but it's massively unreliable, for weeks it wouldn't recognise my username so I couldn't log in, then it often refuses to connect so I just get a blank screen. The app developers and eurosport helpdesk just ignore the issue.

Sky go also doesn't work or ITV player, channel 4 etc. I know jack shizzle about computers but apparently there should be no need for flash players on modern computers so that is why they haven't got it. Looks like no-one has told any of the websites though...

Sky Go works on selected Android devices but not all.

Exactly the same for me. Eurosport suggested I reinstall the app, this did not work and they have been quiet on the subject since. As the app is no longer available on Google Play I assume they know they have a problem and are reworking the code.
  • Looks like the ES Player needs MS Silverlight to operate, and Silverlight doesn't seem to run on Android.

No luck with the amazon app store either I'm afraid.

This is terrible for a paid service. Thankfully I have a computer I can watch it on, just I was hoping to have it on my phone so I could watch it where I like.

I've probably got more hope of getting a pirate stream running on my phone. Perhaps that's what eurosport are advocating with their lack of replies on their sh*t service.

You can get the app if you go through the link on the Eurosport Player website. I wouldn't bother paying at the moment though, as it is unlikely that you will get either ES1 or ES2 to work, only the "free" channels or bonus channels seem to work. Not much good for the cycling.....

There are several links to the app, one of which is on the eurosport website, however, none of which work. Whilst they suffer technical difficulties I presume they have made it unavailable in most countries to block the bad reviews the app was receiving until they have repaired it.

Can't comment on android stuff, but it works like a dream on my iPad.

Haven't missed a single minute yet - and for the bargain price of £3.99 too!!

Damn, I've seen someone on cyclechat said it's working again today as well.

Still can't download the app from google play or amazon app store as it says it's not available in my country.

    I have success!

The app is still not available from the play store, however if you google "eurosport player apk android" you can download the install file and then manually install it on your android device.

    That was me!

Yes, it is working really well again - the quality on the app is much better than the Silverlight version of the player on their website.

I've had a couple of problems getting the app started. I found that calling up the task manager on my Galaxy Tab and clearing the memory before relaunching the Eurosport Player fixes the problem and then it works reliably until I shut it down again.

App is working but it does seem to have an issue with leaving stuff in memory that causes it not to restart after use.
A reboot of phone is my way of getting to work again.
Nice on the Bravia with its HD.

I have had the same problem on my Galaxy Tab, fixed by clearing memory in the Task Manager.

An annoying problem now is regular brief freezing of the picture on Eurosport 1. It was happening the other night on the Tour of California coverage (and is again at this moment on the Giro) but the replay they showed a few minutes later on Eurosport 2 was perfect.

One thing to note is that when you use the player on a device, the server registers that device against your account. If you then use the same account on a different device, it registers that device against your account too. The maximum number of devices you can have registered against your account is 2 (excluding PCs). If you try to access the account from a third device, the player will fail to log in to the account and will return a failure message. If you get this problem, go to the account page on the internet and deregister one of your devices.

This was the one time that ES actually responded to a help request with some useful advice.
