Off to France in a few weeks and not having a garmin I currently use my iPhone to keep track of my rides.

But not knowing where I am in the area I'm going il need to use my phone to navigate, maybe just to see which way to turn at junctions and stuff.

I know Strava won't use data while recording but obviously maps will.

I'm planning on buying a ata bundle from t mobile. But I'm told I will get prompted to buy when I get out there.. But how much data will I use in say 3-4 rides ???

Don't want to get raped again like I did last year, while messing on Facebook

Cheers guys

Not much help to you, but you should be using Nokia Maps. I just got a Lumia 620 and it doesn't need 3G to do mapping and car GPS style guidance. It's brilliant, just turn it on, it locates you, and you can see all the roads in detail.
