Custom Trek Madone 6.9

I was very lucky to acquire a Trek Madone 6.9 from a current world champion on twitter . Needed a bit of a re-spray, so off it went to Carbon Bike Solutions (NB's paintshack on FB). Still awaiting the forks as they forgot to send them  .
Going to be building it up with a selection of Campagnolo (Centaur Red/Black & Veloce) and Deda finishing kit, nothing flash mind as i'm on a budget.

I'll post more pictures and spec when it's all built up.

Now THAT's custom. Great paint job, really mean looking. If I saw you on a start line I'd take notice for sure. Very interesting approach. Did you do the fork the same as the stays? Hope so.
Custom is an odd word with bikes: some peeps walk out of Evans with a bike, add a bottle cage or swap a stem and think it's custom. Really though, the second you adjust the saddle to your high, any bike is custom.
Show it built up please!When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
Wow. Can't wait to see that built up - good choice with the Campag!

Why would you have it resprayed? If it is from the current world champion, I would want to keep it in it's original colours.0

The frame was over 3 years old and the paint had started to flake.
I'm not too sure about the red stripe on tyres now mind, might go back to straight black.0 -
That's looking well!..........+1 for getting rid of the red tyres..........black......black or black.0
-
+1 for loosing the tyres.
Some all black ultremo's would look great.
Plain black tape and your onto a winner!0 -
Yep decided the tyres are going once I've got enough funds.
Also black bartape is on the cards. Just waiting on a new braze on adapter for the front mech and were almost there.0 -
Have you put the cables on yet?
If your going black tape & tires, might look good with red cable outers.0 -
Black cables, as this is a budget build I'm using the ones with the shifters. If money was no object the yes I would have considered it.0

Quick phone pic as it was blowing a gale

I really like the frame and paint finish, it deserves some nicer wheels.0

Gorgeous. The paint really works! Yes it could use some nice wheels but this sport is expensive. The below is all just opinion, please delete as required:
Please rotate your 'bars so the drops are parallel with the ground or 10 degrees sloped up. Else your stem is too long. I can tell you're really reeeeaaaaaaching for your hoods b/c not only did you have to rotate your bars up but your saddle is jammed quite fwd and is tilted down.
Please ditch that saddle, it cheapens the bike. I know it's black with red which is great from a colour-scheme point of view but a Charge hipster saddle just doesn't work. A simple Selle Italia Flite or Fizik Antares would do, there are plenty of saddle deals out there.http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/pp/road-t ... ddles/sadd

Very nice. That would look really good with the wheels de-stickered!

Nah!.......leave the stickers on those hoops imo..........
I like.......good job........understated.... classy ya know....0 -
I would also leave the stickers on. Also I think it voids the warranty on Campag if you take them off. I know it does on the carbon wheels, probably not worth risking it!0
