Leg Shaving

OK, serious question here, please don't take this as a troll!

I've been getting more serious with my training this year and have already competed in a few early season races, more to come in the coming weeks. I had a sports massage the other week and it was quite uncomfortable in terms of feeling the hairs on my legs getting pulled. I've been riding on the road for 5 years now but have never felt the need to shave my legs. The discomfort alone during the massage is making me consider shaving for the first time.

Question is though how far up do you shave? Is it to the short line? Top of the thigh? Keep going till you run out of hair?? :D

All serious answers gratefully received!

mate of mine at school used to shave his legs to the bottom of his bibshorts when he used to race - looked very strange in a pair of football shorts......

Another serious point. If you shave EVERYTHING, does that not cause issues with in growing hairs in the saddle area? I have some issues with that already before shaving so worried it may make things worse.

I go to the speedo line. Shaving higher up is a recipe for pain.

Just to the top of the legs, no need to shave your pubic area unless your masseur is requesting to massage that as well!!!

Yeah good call! I remember reading those reviews!

Thanks for all the help guys. Does anyone wax or is it best just to use the razor?

You been a roadie for 5 years and still have hairy legs? Tut tut.

Leave the razor well away from your coconuts and just get those pins smooth, tanned and ripped to bits

You'll feel at least 5x more awesome and chicks will love you

This is an actual scientific fact. I read it somewhere.

There's a great thread about a guy who was shaving his legs for the 1st time and managed to get locked outside his house mid-shave, god knows how so had to ring his neighbours doorbell to get his spare key, to be greeted by their early-20's daughter.

Waxing is more painful (especially the first time) but it lasts longer than shaving and you don't have the potential problem of ingrowing hairs or hacking your legs to bits with a razor. The GF does mine.

I go to just above the normal short line. I have quite fair skin so don't spend a lot of time in speedos. If you do, you may wish to consider going higher!

I've tried shaving, creams and waxing. Waxing is by far the best for me.

Waxing for me... After the first of times it becomes less painful, the results are better and it last longer. Legs and bum for me, my beautician doesn't do the naughty bits

Chest, legs plus full "saddle zone" for me.

Mrs prefers the all over smooth feel and I prefer the freshness of bare skin during the summer. 8)

There`s nothing worse than looking at a bloke wi` legs like a tarantula in lycra shorts imho.

Yes that is always my quandary as you have to expose them for some time to get the weathered look and before that they look not so hot ....

The other suggestion is any one with body fat >15% will not have enough muscular definition ( at least according to a recent article in "The Comic" aka Cycling Weekly for the uninitiated to justify inflicted such a visual experience on unsuspecting members of the public (not as bad as the MAMIL with the unrestrained protruding stomach mind ....)

Another optionis to use the hair trimmer over everything.

I do it every couple of weeks over legs, the privates and arms and belly. obviously not smooth but gets rid of the hair and the muscle just pops through.

I have dark hair and am pretty hairy and I am loving the hairless look and so does my wife plus donthave much fat so definition of muscle just looks so cool. Plus I am asian so dont need to worry to much about pasty arms and legs. :)

Question is though how far up do you shave?

Start at your toes and stop at your forehead
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

There is one thing to remember about shaving legs. Do your legs look good enough to shave?
