Hi, My friend has just moved to Brisbane and is looking into getting a new bike. Hes looking at 29ers, but I dont know anything about them as I've always had just a normal mountain bike.
Does anyone recommend them or have any thoughts about them I can share with him? Hes looking at Giants.
Thanks.

29ers suite Aus well, my cousin was a devout 26er but uses a 29er round Melbournes local trails which tend to be more open and faster than we are generally used to. He has a Trance.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I don't know much about riding in Oz (wish I did!) but I have experience with 29ers owning as I do two of them, the latest edition being a Charge Cooker. I still can't figure out how Charge have done it but the bike is sooo much fun, feels almost as lively as my 26" wheeled Ragley but certainly faster on my local trails!

Had a few test rides on Giant 29ers too, the Anthem X is an awesome piece of kit. As always though one mans meat is another mans poison so test riding is key.

Charge Cooker, Ragley mmmBop, Haro Mary SS 29er
