Amateur Racing in Italy or Spain?

I've been offered the chance to live in either Italy (Poggio) or Spain (Madrid) for 2-3 years. I'm a BC 3rd cat. Has anybody raced in Italy or Spain that would be able to offer a brief overview of what I should expect. I'm assuming there's a strong amateur racing scene, but I'm struggling to find any decent information.

There's a thread on Italy here...

Grazie. I saw that thread in a search but I struggled to get more than the very basic information. UK websites seem much more polished than Italian ones so I think I have got lazy with the internet.
I think I have settled for Bologna, mainly because the Italians seem to have a lot of pork-based prizes: ham for 1st place, half a ham for 2nd etc, right down to 10th place. I don't think you get points, just ham. Wow!0 -
Try this sitehttp://www.bikexp.com/bikexp/index.php?action=caleventi for events in Emilia Romagna.0

1/1024th of a Ham for tenth is really not very much though? Still worth more than a BC point mind you...Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
