Hi, I want to re-grease the pivot bearing on my Giant Anthem X4 frame.

What grease would be best to use?

What would I use to clean out any old grease?

Thanks.

I would replace the bearings instead.

I'd like to give it a go before I get new ones.

i wouldn't bother. if you're going to the trouble of getting it out you may as well replace it.

Use marine grease if you've got it (well known proprietary brand for bikes is Phil Wood).

Myself, I use axle bearing grease. Just prize out the seals and pack it in then wipe up the excess.

It goes against conventional wisdom but any vacant spacers inside the bearings will fill up with water if it is not occupied by grease.

This is why I would advise topping up the grease even in new bearings.
