Can anyone recommend a commute-friendly bike computer?

Mostly interested in trip distance & times to keep track. Commuting pretty much daily, so easy to use and robust are key considerations. Oh, and cheap is good too!

Pretty much any one would satisfy those requirements.
  • Yes, any bog standard computer will do what you want. I noticed they had some in Wilkinson's the other week which were only a few quid (they had a few things worth noting, including inner tubes and I also picked up a bottle of Slime puncture sealant for about £4 which seemed a good deal). Aldi's (in)famous bike special is on at the moment and has one for about £5. I just picked one of these up for a spare bike today

    Do you have a smartphone?
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Cheers Tigger! Will go check Aldi and Wilkinson.

I do realise they can all do this, but the £25 or more they usually cost is ridiculous for £2 worth of plastic & wire as it's likely to be destroyed/lost.

@Initialised: Do have a smartphone, but it gets nicely tucked away in a bag, so not a good solution. Not strapping that to a handlebar! See above
