Having eventually purchased a full sus bike that I could afford at last (Marin East Peak 5.5 from Rutland Leisure),I've started tweaking it.720mm Saracen low rise bars,Truvativ AKA 60mm stem and Continental Rubber Queen 2.2 tyres (from my Merida hardtail). Now to the crux of the problem, the stem/handlebars have made a vast difference but the tyres seem to drag MORE on the full sus bike than the hardtail! The Marin came with continental X King 2.2's but are a smaller tyre compared with the Rubber Queens.I love the grip/confidence the R/Q's give but could do with something that holds speed a little better.....Any ideas or favourites?

Sticking with the Conti trend, the Mountain King 2 tyres are in between the RQ and the XKings in terms of grip and speed. They are faster rolling and lower volume that the RQ but have more grip through a more aggressive tread pattern than the X Kings. The X kings will most likely be the faster of the 3 due to the round and less aggressive tread.

This topic has come up many, many times in this sub-forum though so I would suggest having a look through the last 2/3 pages of threads and you will find at least 5 topics about tyres. Have a read of some of them to get a good idea of whats good for you.
