Ny Wife really likes this bike

She loves the classic look.
Whats the internal hub gears all about? Do they act like normal gears? Is 3 internal hub gears enough for what she needs the bike for? She wants it for leisure rides along the towpath or taking the kids to the park.

Those really aren't too bad at all for the money, albiet very heavy. 3 gears is two more than you really need on that type of bike, it will be fine. Have a look for second hand ones, really old bikes are way cooler, usually better quality and much cheaper, my shopper is from 1943 and was free, just needed a little work.0

If they are like the Sturmey Archer 3 and later 5 speed hub gears I enjoyed as a kid, they will indeed be bombproof. I seem to remember the need to back-pedal briefly when changing gears.
Looking at the spec you won't want to be lifting it on to a roof rack, it's 16kg!0 -

She likes the look of it. She wont be breaking any land speed records or distance records for that matter. It will be used on saturdays when we take the kids to the park. 5 miles max. We will have alook at more models in th shop but for what she wants it for, I dont want to spend too much on it.Cube Attain SL Disc
