how best to find routes?

we are going down to herefordshire in a couple of weeks and i intend to take my bike with me, obviously i dont know the area so how is best to go about finding some routes to ride while down there?

You could start with the National Cycle Network; I've followed a few routes and discovered some lovely back roads which I would have never experienced without my bike. http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map

You could also have a look at the routes local riders are using on Strava.
