Hi all
So I have an XT shadow plus rear mech on its way for my Whippet. I am going to be running it 1x10 and was wondering if people still recommend running a chain device?
I have read that it's not totally necessary with a shadow plus but not sure its a good idea to go without.
Anyone got any experience running this mech without a device?
Cheers
James

It's advisable I'd say (I do at least). Even with thick-thin XX1 type rings you see the pros still using guides for security. Got a Works ring on the way which I may try without a guide.0

depends what you're riding, I've never lost my chain on my hardtail with a 2x10 setup riding terrain that had me losing the chain all the time without shadow+YT Wicked 160 ltd
