Helmet straps - cut or tie

The straps on the male part of the buckle on my helmet are too long and flap about rather uncomfortably at speed.

Is there any reason that I shouldn't just cut the ends off and melt them with a lighter to stop them fraying. The alternative would be to tie them up somehow but it's not clear to me how best to do this.

  • Adjust, cut and burn. It is what i did with mine, left circa 1" tag end as opposed to 4 or 5".

use a red hot knife to cut nylon type straps this cuts and seals in one, use a wooden block under the knife all done in a flash.

^^ what he said.... was just typing the same.... cutting and 'burn' at the same time with a heated knife. Neat, clean and quick.... Just don't burn your hand and drop it on new kitchen Lino floor... For warned!
