The ones I had didn't look quite like that, but I bought a pair from Lidl well over 2 years ago, maybe even 3. Probably pretty similar anyway.
I originally bought them as the cheapest option to try out clip in pedals. They coped with weekly rides through the mud pretty well. I found them comfortable. So I never changed them.
Thanks for the heads up, I had a bit of an "off" on the mtb a few weeks ago. When I climbed back to my feet, straightened the front wheel enough for it to go round, and climbed back on, I found that I had ripped the cleats out of both shoes on the dismount... I'll pop in next month and buy a pair, they suited me fine.Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.

My Aldi store is selling cycling shoes as well. Styling a bit different but around the same weight:0

Yes! I have experience of them - or slightly earlier versions. I got a pair a couple of years back for commuting and then another about a year ago as spare when the originals had gone through a brief squeaking phase!
Verdict - the new pair are as yet unused as the old pair are still going strong with no signs of any wear. I have ridden with them in all sorts of weather every day. They have probably covered 12000 miles or more and they show their age less far less than the Northwave shoes I bought that cost four times as much and have done quarter of the mileage if that.
Pic below shows half of the old pair I am using with the second, newer unused pair which are basically the same as the current ones aside from colour by the look of it. I think the newer black and silver look a fair bit better than the old black and silver but neither of them are exactly lovely to look at. But then at least they are cheap and ugly unlike Power Ranger Sidis which are expensive and even uglier! And which furthermore always seem to look shabby after relatively few miles. Of course with those, people are less judgemental because they cost a lot! I really should get some posher SPD shoes but I struggle to see the point.
To conclude - there aren't many items of bike clothing I've bought that have been better value.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I've got those older Aldi ones too, they're totally fine. I also struggle to see the point in splashing out on fancier shoes. They're comfy, even after 8 hours riding, and you can walk easy enough in them.
Fair enough, they may not be the best looking shoes out there, but tbh, I generally look at the road and the scenery when I'm out, not my shoes. Anyone else who spends time too much time looking at them needs to have a word with themselves.0 -
