It was a small little place in an industrial unit near the Leckhampton Rd. They organised a few local sportives too but I didn't get the chance to either try the rides or visit the shop.0 -
Probably not Evans site then.
I think Blockbuster Video unit is a contender.0 -

mmm, I sincerely hope not. Cheltenham Cycles are fantastic and the best chaps for mechanical work (at very good rates). They are opposite Blockbuster and will inevitably suffer0 -
The unique parking would be a major plus point for them if it was there.
I have virtually stopped shopping in Cheltenham (have refused to pay to park there for years) due to the council recently thinking its a good idea to target shoppers for more parking charges and fines.0 -

Yep have to agree I purchased my first proper MTB from them some 15+ years ago and whilst I don't live near the store I have purchased a few things from them when I'm over that way.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
Good tip about Chelt Cycles, thanks. Haven't used them before and, as I was looking for Fetish Bikes to do a bit of mechanical work, I'll try them instead.
I assume Fetish couldn't make their business model work, which is a shame because it was a good location and I always found the people really helpful. I used them a few times but it was always pretty empty in there.0 -
Have found Roylan Cycles very good for basic repairs.
Have never used Cheltenham Cycles (only bought stuff in there) but I know a lot of people like them.0 -
Perhaps the market for leather and rubber bikes has dried up.0
-
I found the name off-putting and its probably why I never bothered to make the effort to pay a visit.0
-
I bought my road bike from them, nice guys and really helpful. I never saw many people in there though, shame really. Oddly never been in cheltenham cycles, might have to have a look. Normally easier for me to pop into the cycle studio in Stratford as it's not too far from my work.0

The Evans store is going to be out of town on Kingsditch, a little further down the road from Halfords.
It's the corner unit that has recently been rebuilt (Where Bensons for Beds was/is).
Looks good. Over 7000 sq. ft. with pretty much a whole side of big glass windows as well as the glass frontage.
Theres a 'DW Sports' (whoooooooooo) opening on the old JJB Sports site too. I saw a white tyre'd Halfords type tot's bike inside the front door this morning, so thinking its going to be a bit down market in there :shock:0 -
Cheltenham Cycles = best bike shop in Cheltenham.
Although people race about the mechanics in Leisure Lakes also0
