narrower bars.. the solution?

Been riding some steep techy DH recently with some uber steep and sharp switchbacks and I'm finding it hard to control the bike while staying far enough over the rear to stop going OTB.
I'm finding that when hanging off the rear, I cant turn the bars quick or tight enough to make it round comfortably. I still make it round, just.
Bars are 750mm, thinking of switching to a narrower bar to make the steering lighter and quicker. Stem is already short at 45mm
Is my logic correct?
The Canyon is a long barge at the best of times so its nice and stable going fast but a right bugger to turn!

Yes your logins is sound. Wider bars move you forward. Which is why people use them with short stems.
For DH stuff with 45mm stem I would go 710ish.
Got lock ons? Move every thing in a few cm and try."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Backswept bars? or you can sometimes rotate to turn some up into backsweep.....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I run 710mm, they're perfect for me. as you describe, wider ones are a pain for really steep twisty stuff. not to mention tree clearance.0

Hmm cool cheers for confirming my thoughts.
Currently got Easton Havoc 750mm, don't have much rise or sweep tbh.
710 sounds good, and yep Nick, lock ons so I'll move everything inboard and have a see how it feels!0
