Before I got clipless pedals I wore my squash shoes. Very few roadies round my way don't use clipless pedals except for people commuting. Almost all of them seem to wear trainers.0

Can I ask why squash shoes and not just trainers lotus. Guessing its because they are narrower to use with clips?
Did you already have them or buy them specifically?
Guessing the OP is using clips rather than flats?0 -
I used my SPD shoes with my old (and good) clips and straps when they were on my main bike.0

I wear these for commuting. They are a nice fit and very comfortable. Did find that when riding in the rain they tended to slip a little on the pedal. Hence I fitted the SPD cleat and bought some cheap Shimano SDP pedals.0 -

I could not resist the last one
Not really sure. Club BBQ was the only public place i could imagine wearing them
There was a thread on them a while back if you search you should find it.
I will probably get a pair if I ever see them discounted enough ;-)0 -
5 a side footy training shoes can be good. Reasonably stiff sole with some tread that works well catching pedals and the shoes tend to be narrow too. Very useful on my hybrid when out for family trail pottering.0
