Hey chaps :D

So couple of weeks ago I had my first road bike Specialized secteur sports stolen :x

So I'm now looking for an alternative as I was commuting everyday to work (I have caught the bug..) I'm currently riding a 21kg mountain bike (Which is 10 sizes to small  ) to work and to say it's killing is an understatement

So I'm looking around the £400-£500 mark, I was going to get an Allez entry model £550 but those shifters are horrid  I was also looking at entry model Ribble's!

But yestarday I found a decathlon model some specs..

BTwin triban 5A (New model I believe)
6061 Aluminium sloping T6 with integrated headset socket. short geometry, 1900 g in size 57
Carbon forks
Full sora groupset (Including the double shifters!)
9.9kg
£429

For the price I can't find a better spec on paper just wondering if anyone has any alternatives I can check out!

Any feedback is appreciated

I think those triban 5a are the win - that groupset is the previous tiagra now rebadged as sora. Only thing I would change is treat yourself to some swissstop green brake pads

  • There are loads of bike snobs out there who wont touch the Tribans but the bike is only as good as the person pedalling and its nice to see the all the gear no idea brigade get blown away by people on Triban's and Carerra's

Isn't that the truth  (Trying to get a decent speed out of a 21kg mountain bike on the other hand! Didn't realise the wind effected it so much! )

Yeah I had those on my Specialized and they where good (Major improvement over the thumbs!)

It's looking very positive for the T5A.. Looks like great value for money, Nice weight aswell 9.9kg heard the tyres weight a bit so looks like it could shed a few pounds easily

    those tribans are alright.

However, I'd still go for the entry level allez, purely for resale value in a couple of years

Not to worried on the resale front, But they actually went out of stock in my size.. So I'm now going to look Ribbles again particulary the 7005 Race (White)

Its a bit lighter and comes with better brakes :D Going to be doing a charity triathlon soon so looking at aerobars to

Anyone had any dealings with Ribble? I'm ready to pull the trigger tonight
