Yes or no?
For trail riding, some jumps and drops. Is the carbon strong enough? Weight is 28.5. ( not forgetting this is a trail bike, not xc so normal to weight a little more)

Carbon is stronger than alluminium alloy, plenty strong enough, and 28.5lb sin't that light (the lads 2006 Scott FS is lighter).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Is that not the amount of travel and and geometry of the bike? If 100mm bikes are good enough it opens plenty more options. Like

Am guessing that is a xc bike? Done loads of research and looks like trail/all mountain are heavier by nature due to the travel and prob wider tyres ect. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong? All opinions welcome. But, I ask? Do I need a trail/all m or will a xc do me fine? (Red route trails, some average jumps and drops)0 -

that bike would be fine for what you want it for. I've had a felt in the past and they're good bikes. just stock up on mech hangers cos no lbs had them0 -

Thanks Simon, so you think a bike like this....http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobi ... elID=68684
Would be just as capable on red trails with drop and jumps?0 -
If you mean actual jumps, no, the occasional few foot drop offs then yes fine.0
