I own a pair of rainproof overshoes and now i'm interested in a pair of bootie overshoes. The reason is i suffer from cold toes and feet and would like a pair just in case our glorious English weather changes bad during a ride. I've looked at toe covers and booties which you need to cut a hole in them for cleats. Can anyone recommend a pair please, i'm willing to pay up to £30. The reviews i read are that the booties wears too easily.

Cheers for reading and hopefully some good advice

I have a set of craft toe covers and you don;t need to cut any holes in them just slip them over the end of your shoes and have a slot for the cleats.

The only thing with overshoes is I tend to find my feet get too hot so I use over socks in the spring/autumn and find I get all the benefits of protection from the elements but are a bit more breathable.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
  • BBB race proof overshoes - autumn and spring - just the job just don't get them too wet at the front (I think it's cardboard under the cloth)

I have a pair of Pearl Izumi Elite Cycling Shoe Toe Covers, as Dan said, you don't need to cut anything out for cleats. They do wear at the toe where you put your foot down, but I've had mine a year and they are still perfectly useable.

  • May be outside your budget, but I also had similar issues to you - cold toes after 10 minutes of riding (even in good weather). I didn't really know which overshoes to buy, but since these were red and I am one of those riders that worries about colour scheme, these appeared to fit the brief.

I have worn them several times now, one of those occasions was in December cycling to pick my car up from a service. It was VERY cold in fact I have never ridden in such cold conditions, easily around freezing. Wearing these, my feet were cool but not cold, they noticeably kept my feet from freezing. I am sure that in warmer conditions my feet would be nice and toasty.

Easy to put on and fit well, definitely recommend them.

Prendas oversocks/belgian booties. Cheap, precut and overlocked for the cleats and very durable:

I really can't see why you'd need to pay any more than this.

For colder days but when full on overshoes would be overkill I use the Craft toe covers mentioned above under the oversocks. Works well and feet don't overheat.

Mavic's toew warmers are excellent. Probably the only ones I've seen that are re-enforced at the toe for when you put your foot down.
