Brake alignment

Please excuse the newbie non technical minded description

But my brake alignment seems to be out
For example the gap on one side of the brake pad to the wheel is bigger than the other side

How can I adjust
I don't think the wheels are misshaped as it seems to run true when spinning them and pretty much equal imbalance on one side for the whole spin of the wheel

Grab the caliper and move it so it is centred. There is also a centring screw in the centre of the caliper but the first solution is the simplest.

What sort of brakes are they?
If it is a road bike with dual-pivot calipers, then as per thecycleclinic's advice.

If it is a hybrid or cross bike with either V-brakes or Canti-lever brakes respectively, then adjustment is different.

You need to be more specific

They are Dual-Pivot type. They are just "long drop" versions - usually used on bikes that are fitted with mudguards.
Adjustment method is as per "thecycleclinic" instructions.

If you really want to get anal about it, you can search on the Shimano website for the "Tech Docs" amd "Service Instructions" and do it as per their installation instructions. I couldn't find the exact one, but here is one similar:

However, it will take you a lot longer to do it that way - and the result will be exactly the same :wink: .
