Todays ride

Afternoon all
Went out thinking I would be joining my club ride but not sure what happened today but it wasn't on. Decided I was all kitted out so headed out, was thinking of doing around 50 miles loop with some hills thrown in but think things got out of hand slightly.
As I saw the signs for Southend I thought what the hell and kept on, thinking I would jump on the train back. Got lost slightly on the way as you can see from the slight deviation on my strava route. Quite hilly on the way so couldnt really put the hammer down but wished I hadn't as the return trip felt quite tough.
Managed to rope another cyclist in when I got lost, asked him for directions, he said he would cycle with me a part of the way and then decided to continue on into Southend, so Joe thanks again for the company, definitely helped!
Return was a little shorter and little slower as I was beginning to flag on the way back, had only had breakfast and a coffee and a few bars on the way and was beginning to feel it. Still managed roughly 86 miles mostly on my own and averaged 17.4mph over the 2 legs so not too bad. Longest ride in a very long time.

Now for some rest! Hope everyone else is out enjoying the weather and getting some miles in. Saw a fair few cyclists out, most waved or nodded so all plenty friendly out in Essex.

Don't stop at the lights though or they'll nick your wheels"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
That ride perfectly illustrates why I couldn't live in/around London. I've done hillier TTs!English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

If you had turned left half way down the A128 you would have found two of the most challenging hills in Essex.
Not quite in the same league as Wales though

I don't think there's anything in the vicinity that's even close to Caerphilly Mountain. Shame really as moving to London would be more convenient work-wise.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0 -

Yeah. Maybe give you a shout next time I'm going over to the Hanningfields"You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Lee not a bad idea, perhaps one weekend should give it a try. I would need to cycle a fair bit to get to you guys as i'm on the outskirts of Essex with London whilst I am guessing you guys are in the heart of it.
Does anyone know how to add my strava link to my signature? I added it but ut doesn't work and the first try just sends people to their own dashboard, not mine!Scott Speedster S20 Roadie for Speed
