Hi
Hope all are enjoying the sunny weekend. Im building myself a 4X bike and would like some advice on what type of cassette I should use. Ive heard people mention using a road cassette, id like to keep to Shimano as im using a ZEE single speed crank up front. Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Not really a 4X build but a 4X frame. If you're interested in a read...

4X tends to use a narrow range cassette, there isn't really such a thing as road or MTB (or DH) they are all compatable and just have different ranges, a conventional MTB is wide range, then you have the mid ones usually used on Hybrids and the narrow ones usually used on roads, most 4X's use either a mid (say 11-28) or a narrow (say 12-25).
I have wide on my MTB (9sp 11-34) and a mid range (9sp 11-26) on my commuter.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
