Hi,
A newbie and relatively new to the fixing side of cycling, been cycling and racing for over 4 years but I did't fix too much or mess about with the bike.

I picked up a set of Mavic Askium for the winter bike and from what I can see it has a Shimano hub. I had a spare 23 cassette, Shimano also, sitting around which came off a Mavic Krysium on my main bike, but when I put it on the Askium it just won't tighten. It doesn't slide off the hub or anything but its just shaky.

Any ideas what the issue might be? Do I need light spacers or something? I put it on the Askium exactly how it came off the Krysium.

Apologise for the newbie Q :)

Thanks

Shimano cassettes - certainly 105 & above - use a thin spacer between the lowest gear and the hub. You're probably missing that.

You need the Mavic spacer fitted before the Shimano cassette and spacer if needed.

Have a look in the FAQS viewforum.php?f=40101
