So yet again, as proven quite right, DI2 is rubbish.....

Wiggo's DI2 fails, costs him a chance of a potential title; simple as that really, so to those who fail to see the real truth about DI2, it's utter rubbish! Causes more failures in pro race than punctures.

    Because nobody has ever suffered a problem in a race with non-electronic gears.

    Is it true the some riders in the pro peleton were riding with the battery packs and other stuff on the frame to give the impression of having Di2 fitted, to meet certain sponsorship commitments but were actually riding mechanical Shimano as they had zero trust in Di2?

    Yes, it's true that some riders do this.

    Think they would have to have the lever control unit (might not be call that no DI2 expert) that the wires go into and often seen just under the stem/bars riders to make it look convincing though, as its often the first thing in shot on an 'action' piece and guess it would get picked up straight away.
    Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

    Back in the day of wired cycle computers, Sean Yates used to race with just the bar mount and head unit, no cable or wheel and fork sensors.He simply did not see the need for the data but had to have the head unit visible for sponsorship.

    Not recently. There are a few who prefer mechanical to electronic (just a handful really) so they ride the mechanical gruppo instead. I haven't noticed more mechanicals related to electronic gruppos in the past couple years, but hey, sh!t happens.- just ask LLS at the Olympics...

    Just watched Sir Brad sling his bike into a neat parking position against a mountainside. In a show of sympathy I've taken my Di2 off and lobbed them in a random bin to make sure I can't change my mind, as mine had problems with the battery last year so clearly they are indeed rubbish. Shame really, as they're quite the best thing about the bike. Ho hum. Win some lose some. Thanks for the heads-up jungle fellow, if you hadn't told us I might have had another few years of enjoyable cycling with the occasional potential issue on the horizon, and no mountain to lob my bike at. Well spotted.

    The rear mech loop betrays any attempts at trying to pass off a mechanical groupset as electronic. However, I'd still like to know who "some riders" are.

    Can someone tell me exactly which mechanical FD Schleck was using when his chain came off and Contador attacked to win the TdF.

    That clearly needs to go in the bin before I do the same with my Di2 gear.

    Don't worry, After the Di2 and the mechanical FD, I'll put a Spanish sirloin steak in the bin as well
