AL is a good friend of mine. All I'll say is he likes his hills or "little lumps" as he calls them. Went out with him last week for a "gentle" ride. 40 miles with over 4000ft climbing.

    Just prepare yourself hahaha.

 Not the answer i wanted lol

The clock is ticking and i have hardly got any hill training in this year and now i`m about to go away for a week of beer and sun. I am going to have to hit it hard upon my return or suffer the shame of walking half of the B***ard!

  • Just taken a look at this after reading your post, £25 for 68 miles and no timing...so they throw in some food, just get out and ride, stop at a cafe and have some lunch, why pay someone else for the privilege.

Ignore the usual anti-sportive stuff above. This event is great and the food at the end top notch. You'll need plenty of hill training though if you want to avoid walking - the last climb before the end is a real sod. Great fun though!

I'm doing it myself and will be doing all of the Polocini events this year (as I am doing the Paris to Nice ride, all the Polocini events are included as "training"). If you think they're too dear then you havent done one of Al's sportives - the food and nutrition packs are so much better than others offer, and the routes are great.

Oh, and it was this event last year where i ruined a front carbon rim!! :D.I think i used the brakes too much on the descent of Holme Moss!! Still hit 50mph though;)
