HI, i just redid my bar tape and after having taken the shifter off for a repair and putting them back on i think i have got them a bit high on the bars? I havent ridden it yet but i think i need to angle the bars up a bit to flatten out the surface but should the shifters be a bit lower down the bars themselves?

Its personal preference. some people have the tops level and the shifters leading on level from that. Others rotate the bar down slightly so the drops are level and lift the shifters slightly so the top of them are level. Others run funky bar positions because it works for them.

If you do rotate the bars up slightly personally I would drop the shifters to match so the tops are level, see how it feels and tweak from there.

looks odd cos you have the stem in positive rise rather then negative in the top picture.
correct me if Im wrong but the bars in the top photo are different ? bar shape can make a big difference.
As above set them up to how they feel....no point in making them flat if their uncomfortable

Flipped stem now with a standard double?
I know you setup for your own comfort but as the shifters look perfectly ok positioned, you have to admit the stem shouts a little " I am an old man who has lost all flexibility"
    I do like the bike!
Come on now, you are a roadie not on a bread dleivery
  • yeah i know i have the flipped stem but i suffer from back problems so it has to be comfortable (althought it is getting better)

I didnt like it this morning so have flipped and even managed to reuse the tape
    here is the new angle
