Do you think it'll be a problem if I use this tyre?
It has had a puncture through the sidewall and has left a small gash. I have sealed the inside of the tyre with a patch, but having blown the tube up, it has expanded and bulged slightly at the weak spot.

Do you think the excess pressure will eventually pop the tube completely through the tyre wall?
Never put off until tomorrow something that you can do today. 'Cause if you do it today, and like it, the you can do it again tomorrow!!

I don't fancy that. And I'm notoriously tight-fisted when it comes to damaged tyres.

I'd get a new tyre on it before using the bike again. You can temporarily keep a tyre running as a get you home solution with an old section of tyre cut to act as a reinforcing patch, but that's only to get you back.

Looks like structure of the tyre carcass has been badly damaged and it would fail without warning at proper operating pressure (if it didn't do that when pumping it up).

I'd say that was for the bin.
