For those who have been following the writings on my website My Bicycle and I over the past 18 months, and for those who like photography, I have launched another, more professionally oriented, website based around magazine writing and photojournalism which is what I do for a living. Rather than making daily 'blog' posts I am putting up an Image of The Day with an extended caption about the photograph or the story behind the taking of it. Quite a few are cycling oriented photographs but a good many aren't.

If you are interested the website is called The Big Wide Wonder (http://www.thebigwideyonder.com)

Image of the day is at: http://www.thebigwideyonder.com/image-of-the-day/

Thank you very much for that compliment. I love his old night time railroad shots. Funnily enough, or maybe you just have a very sharp visual sense, he has been something if an inspiration to me in the night time photography I do for my blog. Your comparison has made my day!

I have a reasonable visual sense, I used to lecture in visual communication.

I could see several comparisons in that one photo, the light spilling above the bridge the foreground character's movement, even the coincidental poster showing children (a favourite foreground subject of his) it is a really good photo especially as you didn't have the luxury of working with additional lights.

Like a trip down memory lane (makes me sound sooo old, lol). I know all these haunts - I used to live in Eeeeeestbaaaawn. The Pevensey castle shot through the archway reminds me of coming back from the Rovers TT and on the way to my mates wedding where he was a little nervous and had to stop for a pee. We stopped in the little gravel car park. Some great shots - well done fella. I like the jungle scene. Black and white is still underrated.

Bexhill has never been the same since I listened to an old goons recording.

Standing on a cliff near Bexhill On Sea
"Ooooh Minnie, the rain is really quite warm for the time of year"
" Yes it is, I think i'll take one of my Sou-Westers off".

..and pics of Hastings too at the bridge. The only time there isn't a river of traffic I guess, was at a night time ride. You got the cyclist in focus at that time of night whilst he was actually moving! I am impressed. (Unless of course you were a bit naughty with the superglue, welding grade filter and 'road closed' signage).
    seanoconn - gruagach craic!

Actually I AM the cyclist in the frame. For the cycling shots I am both subject and photographer.
