West Scotland Easy Riding

Hi All,
I am going to be taking a wee trip up to the West of Scotland for a weekend at the beginning of May. We are aiming for a few days in Oban with friends but have one day to get a nice cycle in on the way up :-D.
So, I am taking my wife who is a stable rider but mainly commutes on city streets rather than offroading. I am a regular MTBer. I was looking for a route where we can change the slicks of her hardtail to some nobbles and get a good few hours of riding on non tarmac but not to technical singletrack / walkways / bridleways etc.
Any ideas? I considered a stretch of the West Highland Way?
