    It must be your choice, make sure you try more than one bike on your list before buying but seriously consider the Triban 5 - with new wheels (when you need them) and new tyres (I would change them immediately) you will still have spent less than on the Giant and people are saying you should change the wheels on that...

    Not telling you what to buy, but don't dismiss the Triban. Many people voting will not have ridden the different bikes on the list and only by comparing can you see which is best for you. They are all good bikes but remember you are paying £100 to £200 for the name on some of them - which is fine as long as you know what you are getting.

    The best value bikes on the list are the Ribble and the Triban 5 but buy the one you like - sometimes it is right to go with the heart.

    You need to change the wheels on all budget bikes (and a lot of non budget ones) IMO.
    Wheels are often the weak link in the spec of a bike.
