Myself and three friends are riding this years Bowland Badass and I wondered if there are many steep climbs on the route (10-25%+). Just trying to work out the best gearing selection.

Are you on facebook Canyon? There is a dedicated page for it with details of the climbs.
Think the gearing will depend on how fit you are. I'm an ageing gent carrying a bit of excess, so my 50x32 will get used, I'm sure.
Thing is there are a lot of hills and it's a long distance, so unless your training specifically for this and going to get lots of hills and 100+ mile rides in beforehand, it's going to be a hard long slog. That's what I'm expectingShare The Road Event http://www.sharetheroadride.co.uk

I have ridden it twice and will be riding the route this year in early May due to family commitments in July. As for steep climbs well most of the climbs on the route have a varied gradient. You will find small steep parts on most of the climbs from between 15% to 20%. In my opinion there are two really steep hills though they are Walley Nab at 120 miles:-

and Birdy Brow at 134 miles

Obviously you have to take in account the millage done at the point you hit these climbs as I am sure if you were doing them after 10 or 20 miles your gearing would be different.
For more info on the climbs see the event website or like someone else has said the facebook site there's lots of info on each climb.
