The Cake Stop

As a tubbier cyclist I am a firm believer that good cake should get the praise it deserves. On a ride on Saturday I rode past Bike Beans in Ashtead (Surrey) www.bikebeans.co.uk and stopped in. I have to say best Banana Cake I have had in ages and really good coffee, I enjoyed it so much I stopped again on Sunday and had porridge and coffee and was again impressed. Its only a small place but really friendly and worth a stop if you go past.
Just thought it would be worth recomending and perhaps start a list of cycle friendly cafes.

Raymondo,
Maybe we have passed, i am a larger chap on a secteur usually seen dripping in sweat. Used to do a lot of cycling but stopped about 7 years ago and slowly getting back into it. I am Ewell based, BR have set a ride group up in the training & events section for Epsom people.Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.0 -

If anyone is looking for a good place for a cake stop in North Yorkshire I can recommend The Buck Inn at Buckden. Not only do they do really lovely carrot cake, they were also incredibly lovely to me and my friend on Saturday when we turned up, freezing and soaking, after being caught out by the weather coming over Fleet Moss. They stoked up the fire for us, tumble dried our jerseys and went out of their way to make sure we were ok.
The pub is on the Yorkshire TdF route so well worth a visit if anyone is planning to be up that way next year...Small fat weak punter0 -
fremington halt on the tarka trail near barnstaple in lovely devon... they do the most gorgeous flapjack and belgian chocolate slice, and a mug of coffee. very friendly staff and a nice sitting out area if the weather is nice overlooking the estuary0

Did my first big ride of the year today 37 miles, i know not much but first big one, been doing 10-15miles when i could.
Well found a little cafe a Hatton just outside warwick at Hatton locks, probably common knowledge between local cyclists, they have a bike rack, loads of outdoor seating, and amazing carrot cake! made the journey home that much nicer.
Only negative from today, cross winds were a difficult to say the least, and i really think i need a proper road bike, hybrid was quick but could of been quicker!0 -

Stop going to the cafe and do more riding - you'll soon be a less tubbier cyclist!!
PS In the past week - i honestly havent been to the Polocini cafe AND the Eureka Cyclists cafe up here in the NW. Ok i did - but didnt have yummy cake at either!! I was good (for a change!)0
