Hello,

I have a Carrera Subway 2 and a Saracen Somethingorother.

The 42t chainring would appear to be a little damaged on the Subway so was looking at upgrading it with a set comprising of a 48-38-28t .

I think i've found a direct replacement but my questions are:
Do i need to buy a new BB or chain?
If i wanted to do this with the Saracen, would any chainset work?
Are these things of universal fitments?

cheers

You need to find the documents for the chainset - this will tell you what type bottom bracket is needed (and dimensions).

You will need a new, longer chain.

You will need to raise the front derailer.

A 48 is only an upgrade if you need it, otherwise it's a downgrade (heavier).....
