Hi all,
After shreading three pairs of my trousers I have decided to fit an aftermarket chain guard onto my bike (a Ridgeback Velocity 2011/12 can't remember exact year) I have my eyes set on a SKS chainboard (http://www.sks-germany.com/?l=en&a=prod ... hainguards) which needs to be sandwiched between the bottom bracket and the frame.
I thought I might try it myself as bottom bracket tools aren't that expensive but I want to be sure I am buying the right tool. On the ridgeback website it simply says the bottom bracket type is "catridge" which I thought is not very helpful. I think what I need is a shimano bottom bracket tool, would anyone be able to enlighten me or better yet provide a link?
Thanks

Almost defintely this:

You will need a crank extractor to remove the cranks too. But... by far the easiest solution is trouser clips! This is what I do, cheap, light, easy, and no more caught trousers!0 -
You can get a trouserguard ring that bolts to some outer chainwheels as well......Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Indeed, if it's the Shimano 48-38-something or other triple chainset, I might well have said trouser-ring lying in the attic. I'll check tomorrow.0

Something like that works pretty well if running a 48t0
