Further to my previous post earlier today re purchasing a new hybrid bike for around £500, can anybody give me any feedback on the 'Boardman Performance Hybrid Comp Bike' which falls into my price bracket?

Thanks J

  • Hi clelanj,

Just read your other post, the boardman is a great bike (had one just under a year), but definately more towards the road side rather than mtb side of hybrid.

It depends how much riding you are planning to do offroad, and what kind of tracks, but I wouldn't take this bike on anything other than roads/pavements/canal tow paths.

    Cheers

Yep, bought one 6 months back (unfortunately I've hardly ridden it due to deciding I prefer my road bikes! oops!)

Good bike, poorly set up by Halfords (no surprise there) but reasonably light, lovely smooth welds, good gear spread and 26mm width tyres with more grip than my road bikes but definitely road 80%, town 15%, off road 5% orientated.

I bought it for commuting, I may well still use it as I have a bit of built up town to get through and could use a canal towpath if I find the couple of miles of busy A road too much at commuting times.

Cost me £549.99 and I fitted the normal mudguards, lights, saddle pouch and bottle cage.

If I do decide to sell it it'll only be to part-fund a new Bianchi!
