I am thinking of running a 9 speed triple with a 10 speed (Shim 105) f/d, shifters and chain. Is the ring spacing different enough to cause indexing problems, and is there a risk of the chain dropping between the rings? Anyone here done this successfully.

    It'll work fine.

The rings will neither be too wide for the chain to fit on their teeth, nor so far apart it'll drop down the gap.

Thanks andy_wrx. Decided to give it a go. I will report back on any issues as it seems a good way to get a better low spread of gears in my audax/tourer.
