Wheel Advice

On my bike I have a set of wheels (Wheels A) with new cassette and on the bike I have a new chain and chainset only installed in the last month.
I have a second set of Wheels (Wheels which I will be using primarily for racing and these also have a new cassette. When racing, I plan to switch Wheels A for Wheels B and then rotate back inbetween races for riding the trails and general riding.
Would you recommend I buy a second chain to go with Wheels B, such that when I switch wheels, I also change a chain with them? I thought this would be overkill, but is this necessary?
Thanks

I do just this, and used to just use one chain. Then I replaced that chain, but it slipped on one set of wheels (the racing ones with the XTR cassette typically). Not wanting to junk the cassette (or take out the XT cassette on the 'normal' wheels) I now alternate chains when I change. It's more of a ball ache frankly, but not the end of the world.
So... depends if you're going to be using one set far more than the other, and if you're likely to stay on top of chain replacement.0 -
So you reckon the additional chain is the way to go?
I guess it isnt that hard to switch with a chain link...0 -
Yeah get a new chain, or else every time you swap wheels, swap the cassette (keep the other cassette as a spare).0
