either:

- the very stong winds on my morning cycle
- that my destination for that ride was work
- i'm still at work
- that the wind has picked up and changed direction
- that it is now also raining
- I snapped a break cable on my way in so going to have to go back in the wet with only one brake

Damn i'd say lighten up, but thats quite a lot of minus points right there. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

Well I'd rule out the wind related ones, they will make you stronger and benefit you in the long run. Cycling would be boring if it was easy

At least you get to buy new cables. May as well overhaul the brakes whilst your at it, new pads ect

You get new shiny parts-that's a good thing.

thats a good way to look at it!

maybe i'll do a bit of online shopping for bits and pieces I don't really need but could justify that I do when I get home!

Isn't that what work is for? Buying bike things that you don't need nor afford whilst getting paid. You don't want to waste your own time buying/researching bikebling.

What is with the wind at the moment? Went out yesterday with my mate, did about an hour heading west, big climb before the coffee stop, all into the wind. At the stop, I said, oh well, we've done the hardest part now with the climb and the wind, just a little section (maybe 20 mins) with the wind across (and a monster downhill 8) ) and then about an hour with a tail wind on the flat.
By the time we got to the flat, the wind had changed direction completely, and it started to rain
