Does it matter how high the magnet goes on a bike computer?

I have just bought a btwin count8 bike computer and am looking to install it, the only thing I am confused about is there a specific distance from the centre of the wheel that the magnet has to be, or just that it is within 5mm of the reader?

    Like the manual. It's only measurein how many revs, nothing related to the speed of pass, so roughly in the middle should be fine at a distance where each turn is registard.

    Doesn't matter how high up the spoke it is, all of the spoke is going to pass the fork lower at the same time!
