I'm not saying this is the best way but this is how I did it, small amount of soapy water on the bars and inside the grips, I used some car shampoo pushed them on, tapped end caps on with a rubber mallet left for a couple of days to dry out and they havn't moved at all, I have also seen hairspray mentioned as an option.0

Thats a good idea, especially to leave it to dry out. I used soapy water to get them on but i found them quite slippy.
I prefer to use only water as its worked for me but has been quite hard to get on. But once you get them on with using only water it should be alright.0 -
I use hairspray.0

Yeah because you're a Roadie as well.....or are you still talking about grips?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Hairspray worked best for me, tried the soapy method but never completely stuck.0

Ba dum chhh.
GT85 can work as well, doesn't always 'dry' the same way though IMO.0 -
Last time i used chain lube it didnt pay off well at all...slipped WAY too much.0

"Oil in not sticking things shocker".
GT85 isn't chain lube. It does depend on the grips, if they're a very tight fit then GT85 will help them on - Ritchey ones I've used were very tight. If they're not a hugely tight fit then it's far from ideal.
Hair spray (or Spray Mount) is still best IMO, the alcohol helps them slide on, then they go tacky. Cheap can of the stuff is fine.0 -
I might try this hairspray trick myself.0

If your grips are staying put I wouldn't get involved, but yes, if you need to fit new ones then go nuts.0

Yep, i wouldnt take mine off now. I meant next time i put grips onto bars.0
