Hoping for some thoughts from the community.
I'm shopping to get a top spec mountain bike for trail riding for a 5' 2 lady, weighing a dainty 8 stone.
Have a decent budget available - around £4k to £4.5k, and light weight in the bike will be important. It's been a while since purchasing, so am pretty out of touch i'm afraid, hence the request for ideas.
We're looking for a hardtail designed with 100mm forks in mind, but don't think 29er wheels are going to work - she currently uses a 26" wheeled aluminium hardtail with XT / X0 drivetrain, Hope wheels and avid brakes, with thomson/easton/chris king components. So many manufacturers seem to be working to 29er wheels now (even the boutique Ti specialists), so i'm not sure where to go to be honest.
Primary riding is dedicated red routes across north of England and into Scotland, so the bike should be able to handle technical descents, tight uphills and fast flowing singletrack (e.g. West coast Seven Staines trails, North Yorkshire forests).
All ideas welcome!

Scott Scale, or Trek Elite. Both available in 15" frames with 26" wheels. The Scott is lighter and comes in a Contessa women's variant too. Although not a top spec one IIRC.0

Thanks. i'd been looking at these and will consider the main manufacturers, but should have said i'd also be prepared to go custom using a less well-known frame builder.0
