Beautiful still bright sunny morning here. Only downside right now is that it's 0C but completely dry. Think it's due to remain nice and perhaps squeak up to 10C later

Current forecast - -1, sunny, 0 mph wind.
To be turning cloudy but fair, max 9 degrees.

Actually heavily overcast, looks like rain.

    Edit:- Central Scotland.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Can anybody explain the BBC weather page. The summary "icon" for today says min 7 max 11. Look at the detail hour-by-hour for the day and it starts at 2C and doesn't reach the "minimum" temp of 7C until midday. How does that work? The fact that Inverness airport is recording -2C just makes it look even sillier.

    Just stick with Met Office.

Yorkshire - Forecast sunny spells, getting warmer and cloudier later. Max temp 12. Certainly seems about right so far with clear skies and 7 degrees forecast for 10am.

Edit: note to folk. This thread is probably meaningless unless you say where you are!

East Surrey - on & off rain today mild 6c but very slippery as dirt on roads has not washed away... Forecast to be dry and highs of 18c mid-afternoon tomorrow! better clean and lube the chain for a long one tomorrow... :D
  • You need a barometer and a weather vane. barometer is most important.

But if the evening before you go out the barometer is falling rapidly on a westerly wind, it's gonna rain.
Steady barometer normally means ok weather, rapid rises/falls are not good.

Hey, it can't be any worse than the BBC, who allegedly get their data from the met office.

All wise weather sayings welcome. Here 's one - rain before 7 , fine by 11. This is true most of the time.

Just log onto Wunderground. There will be loads of weather stations near you and you can get the data from that

+1 to this MRS. They are way more accurate than anything else I've seen.

My arse, they are based less than a mile from where I work and weather is normally way out. We joke that they should pay someone to stand on the roof or at least look out the fecking window.

Did it ever - thought I'd need a boat to get out of Marlborough late afternoon. The A4 was like a river. Still, the upside is I'm currently enjoying a Ramsbury Gold. Lovely stuff.

I use accuweather on my phone: it is amazingly accurate, has an hourly weather forecast but useless if you want to look at it from a browser. The best when you align your commute to it and miss the rain within minutes.

I think its important to distinguish between a weather forecast and a prediction based on the current weather plus looking in the direction the wind is coming from.

Snow nearly gone from the Moorfoot Hills now, replaced by 50mph gusts and sideways rain. I forecast that I shall NOT be going for a ride today.

Very wise besides the Amstel Gold race starts at 1.30 you wouldnt want to miss that now would you?

West London is radiant in the sunshine but the gale force gusts have caused sideways cycling, especially in Richmond Park. Sawyers into a headwind with nasty sidewind gusts was a bit challenging!
    RIP commute...
